Hinge Launches One More Hour in France

Hinge is helping local Gen Z build more in-person connections through community-led groups and the launch of Assemble Marseille.

Hinge As

One More Hour is launching in France as Hinge expands its global initiative in an effort to foster more in-person connections between young people. With 62% of Gen Z in France experiencing loneliness, Hinge is investing in the local social groups that help young adults find belonging, build community, and form lasting offline connections.

The expansion comes as Gen Z faces growing barriers to connecting in person. 59% of Gen Z in France say recent inflation has forced them to cut back on social outings, while 48% feel that there are not enough free or affordable meeting places near them. However, 65% say they are interested in meeting new people in person. The appetite is there, so the societal focus needs to be on creating new opportunities for connection.

As part of the 2026 global fund, Hinge will donate $1.5M internationally, with 15% (approximately $150,000–$200,000) allocated to groups in France. The One More Hour fund is already active in the United States, where it launched in 2024, and in the UK, where it expanded in 2025. To date, Hinge has donated $2.3M globally through One More Hour.

Hinge recognises the crucial role these clubs play in addressing this need and has already begun supporting organisations in France – with five social groups receiving funding ahead of launch: TRANSpire, Cafe Rosa, TuoWin Rugby Club, Wassla and Centre LGBTQ Marseille.

“Loneliness among young people is one of the defining challenges of this generation. In France, we’re seeing that Gen Z genuinely wants to connect, but it’s not always easy. The cost of going out, the anxiety of showing up somewhere new, and not always having spaces that feel welcoming or made for them can all get in the way. One More Hour exists to help make connection feel more accessible. France has an extraordinary culture of community, and we’re excited to invest in the people already creating spaces for friendship and long-term connection,” said Tamika Young, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Hinge.

Alongside the One More Hour launch, Hinge is introducing its flagship event “Assemble” in Marseille, bringing the format to France for the first time. Built in partnership with independent travel platform Trippin, Assemble is a community-focused event designed to spotlight local social groups and organisations creating opportunities for connection.

Assemble Marseille will take place on 30th May 2026 at La Friche de la Belle de Mai. Marseille was chosen deliberately as a city with a strong and vibrant community culture. Creating a moment for greater visibility, Hinge wants to amplify the impact of grassroots groups creating spaces for connection beyond Paris. The five featured local groups will be Mesure Club, Undergroove, Marseille Panthers, Centre LGBTQIA+, and Tarpin Gouine.

One More Hour builds on Hinge’s long-standing commitment to tackling loneliness and facilitating meaningful in-person connections. By collaborating with in-house experts and external partners, Hinge equips people with the tools and resources they need to foster community and belonging. This includes creating a social groups directory that features social groups across France, the US and UK, releasing the Hinge Phonebook – 100 pages of inspiring and free ideas to replace screen time with in-person interactions. Hinge has also provided bespoke grants to organisations like Centrlink, a network supporting LGBTQ+ community centres, and Build IRL, an initiative focused on creating in-person connection opportunities for young people.

About the Research:The research was conducted by IPSOS for Hinge in April 2026, surveying a nationally representative sample of 2,000 Gen Z adults aged 18–30 in France.
