About the Role



As a key member of our iOS team, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining the Hinge iOS mobile application. Your focus will be on implementing new product features, fixing issues, and enhancing the mobile application user experience, all while leveraging iOS tools such as Swift, Core Data, and other Apple frameworks. Collaborating within a cross-disciplinary team, including product managers, technical project managers, designers, data engineers, backend engineers, and QA analysts, you will work closely with the Tech Lead and peers to advance our product and contribute to our engineering community. This role offers the opportunity to engage in high-impact work, directly contributing to a consumer mobile application used by millions. Over time, you can expect to develop into an independent, capable, and confident iOS developer.


Responsibilities

  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse team of developers, designers, and product managers to build features that prioritize high quality and user engagement.
  • Swift Proficiency: Develop and continuously enhance your understanding of Swift fundamentals, applying them to create efficient and effective solutions.
  • iOS Expertise: Gain a thorough understanding of iOS development principles, Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, and architectural design patterns, applying them to build intuitive and user-friendly applications.
  • Issue Resolution: Triage, debug, and effectively resolve software issues, ensuring the stability and performance of our application.
  • Codebase Stewardship: Actively contribute to the long-term health and evolution of the codebase, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Code Reviews: Regularly perform code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Active Team Participation: Engage actively in team ceremonies such as stand-ups, planning sessions, and retrospectives to ensure alignment and promote agile methodologies.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain clear and positive communication with team members and other departments, supporting an empowering and inclusive team environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional iOS Development Experience: You have 3-5 FTE years of experience in iOS development, demonstrating the ability to design and implement mobile applications effectively.
  • App Store Publication: You have experience publishing at least one application on the App Store, showcasing your understanding of the deployment process and maintaining a production application.
  • Proficiency in Swift and iOS Frameworks: You are proficient in Swift and have a strong understanding of iOS SDKs and frameworks. 
  • Solid Software Development Fundamentals: You possess a good foundation in software development principles and are capable of creating efficient and maintainable code.
  • Strong Communication Skills: You are able to communicate clearly and effectively, facilitating productive collaborations within technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ownership and Quality Focus: You take pride in your work and are committed to creating high-quality user experiences, demonstrating attention to detail and a user-centric approach to application development.
  • SwiftUI & Swift Concurrency: Experience with SwiftUI and Swift Concurrency is a plus.

Salary Range

$143,000.00 - $172,000.00 per year salary

Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York City. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.

In early 2019, Hinge was fully acquired by Match Group. Founder and CEO, Justin McLeod, still leads an executive team that sets the overall mission and vision for Hinge as well as our working norms, policies and day-to-day priorities. While certain corporate functions are managed at the MG portfolio level, working for Hinge is intentionally a unique experience.

TLDR: We get the best of both worlds! Hinge still gets to operate like a small company, and we have the stability and resources of a much larger legacy company that has stood the test of time.

Of course! Having used Hinge or any other dating app is definitely not a requirement. That being said, we are looking for team members who genuinely believe our product can and will help people all over the world connect. Our team is passionate about the dating industry and we hope you’ll be passionate about it too!

Hybrid roles at Hinge are based in NYC and require weekly presence in our Meatpacking District office. The team values in-person collaboration and we hope to see everyone in our beautiful office space three days a week starting Fall of 2023. Each team will have some freedom to determine what works best for them, but we generally aim for consistent in-office days to maximize the opportunity to collaborate.

TLDR: Beautiful working spaces, lots of plants, even more food and snacks, dog friendly - 3 days a week :)
